Best tips on finding and applying to jobs?

Just moved to Florida from a different country. Have 5 years of software engineering experience, Some of it is old corporate backend, some of it is software engineering (not backend) using multiple languages and cloud services. I applied to ~15 jobs, some of them are remote, to most of them i meet the minimum and even extra requirements. None of the companies proceeded with my application, i expected to get at least one call 😂 Should i add a cover letter when applying?(my thinking is that no one really cares about it) What are the best sites to look for a job here? Currently im using linkedin, builtin and indeed. Is referral a must when applying to any position? Trying to get a feel of the culture here and how should i approach job searching.

If you want just a job, contact a staffing agency. They’ll get you one. Applying on companies’ websites won’t work in most cases
