I did not know this. Personally, I rather have Volvo remove the touchscreen since it’s distracting. https://www.automobilemag.com/news/volvo-112-mph-speed-limiter-wont-help-safety/
How are you supposed to get away from the police only going 112?
If mine can be 113mph I'm ok with everyone else having 112mph
What if you are under emergency circumstances, like running fast to hospitals , being chased by assassins, driving urgently out of wildfire
TBH 112mph is pretty fast, you are probably safer driving 70mph to the hospital than 112, even if you need urgent care.
If the car was good enough the aftermarket would remove the limiter. The target market won't even realize it's there but I'm still strongly against this because a lot of current gen shitboxes could become tuner platforms after their consumer life is over and they're dirt cheap
If I could - i would enforce all cars to accelerate at the same "slow" rate and limit max at 80mph. No one is really in hurry, but emergency, so just drive carefully, you'll arrive 2 minutes later, but it would be safer for everyone
You sound like a fascist
Slow acceleration is much more dangerous overall since the majority of fatal accidents occur on highways. Cars like a Prius that take literally 10 seconds to reach 60 means you have zero escapability in an accident. It’s one of many reasons Tesla’s are so safe.
Most rentals are limited to 112 MPH. I wonder why such an odd number.
180 km/h. Limiters are more common in Europe.
That makes a lot of sense. Thank you!
I've never gone over 105 mph in my life
Smaller regular cars can't go faster than 112mph(180kmh) because that's what they can do without any limits
Hell no. I drive faster than that at least once a month
It feels unnecessarily c*. Volvo is my dad now. I have never driven at that speed and probably never would except maybe at a track, but viscerally I still really dislike it.
