Can anyone at Venmo explain what their “robust risk platform” is vetting when a user tries to add a new payment type. Ie: credit card For context, I’m a little frustrated that the system kept declining the credit card I was trying to add and when I tried to talk to support about it, they said they couldn’t do anything to help me because their robust risk platform takes “many” factors into account when reviewing attempts to add a card. When I pushed the support specialist to further explain this or at least connect me to someone who could help me, he refused to help me or provide more info other than that. :(
I mean if they told you, you could potentially outsmart the system to commit fraud :) Generally most fraud prevention systems use some combination of ML models based on user signals e.g. device type, last login, card add velocity etc and manually created rules.
Thanks, that’s helpful! However, it doesn’t explain why the system won’t accept my card. The only explanation I can think of based on your list is I tried to add it too many times in the last 24 hours lol 🤷♀️
It’s tough to give an exhaustive list haha. They probably use hundreds of different signals, and your behavior unfortunately triggered a false positive somewhere :(
