500 people were laid off from Groupon today and the severance for anyone less than 2 years was 3 weeks and healthcare until end of the month. Somehow they managed to get around WARN. #groupon #layoff
Fuck man… to the people of Groupon I’m sorry
the company has no hope of surviving, though i missed the good ol day with real deal from this platform
I would threaten to sue and negotiate a better severance.
Add it on the many lawsuits they have against them.
Wow that is shitty
Don’t see this in the news? A 500 person layoff was reported in August 2022 but not this year.
Anyone knoe how they got around WARN?
Trying to figure that out.
Some businesses are exempt from the WARN Act and some states have a mini-WARN Act. Private companies also have different rules (but this does not apply to Groupon).
Nobody uses Groupon these days anyways. I am surprised they are still in business
A few people still work there, but it hasn't been a business for years.
What a shit company to work for
there was a time when it was cool af. Chicago anyway
They were really well known for their engineering department mid-2010s and paid quite nicely. I had friends work there out of college and remember being surprised by their SDE I salaries.
