How much better than your current TC?
About +50%, which is nothing to scoff at.
50% more than your current TC isn't a lowball. A lowball is your current TC. Take it and enjoy. You can always find someone to pay more, but there's no guarantee you can get an offer there (or want to deal with the culture it demands). Ask me how I know.
Do you have an alternative? If not it is not a lowball
That’s kinda my position, but I am asking for curiosity. Gonna accept anyway. I don’t have enough data anyway to say with certainty that is a lowball, just a feeling.
This question is unanswerable without more context. Your situation, job potential etc.
Don’t wanna give too much info, I haven’t signed yet. But my assessment is that it would put a cherry on top of my CV. It is the kind of offer I have been working towards since I started (5yoe) and I am planning to stay there a lot to really develop. Potential I would say it is maxed. Perhaps I may be able by chance to get something better but I would say it is unlikely, also because I still have to pick a field where to dive deeper. I may be a good engineer but I am not the one you would say absolutely necessary to have. I am asking more for curiosity and a feeling I have. It is still objectively better than what I have today, I am gonna sign.
I think that you just answered to your question. Go for it. If you won’t do it then you will regret it. This move can open amazing new opportunities. You never know…
You will hate yourself knowing you accepted a lowball offer after you leave your current job. Negotiate better.
You got exactly what I am feeling. Is that “perhaps I could have…” but I don’t think it would make sense for me to reject it.
Try to negotiate more and then accept it. Keep interviewing after accepting.
Lie about having a competing offer. I had to leave my current job and the new offer was for 15k less than my current salary. I told them I had a new offer that matches my current salary and they matched it and gave me a larger sign on.
I dunno, it would an easy bust. Once you are caught with that I assume it is over. Thought about it but blowing it in this way would be a lot worse for me.
Unless they ask for an offer letter, I don't think it would be that big of an issue. My place didn't ask for an offer letter, and you're always allowed to ask for a little more. The worst they can say is no
lol 50% hike from your current tc is truly not lowball lol
In fact I am not that sure I can call it a lowball, it is just the feeling I could have negotiated for more but failed at it.
Everyone always feels “could have” done better that’s ok.. I would say it’s a good hike considering the market. So join with positive outlook, you can always jump again after a year or so
Yes accept it . Market sucks right now
If what you got is a lowball and you have no other offers AND it’s more than you’re making now, not a lowball
Get a competing offer. Problem solved.
Don’t have time for it. Beside that I am not sure I could get anything better in a small amount of time. In a year perhaps.
