Currently an SM at EY tech consulting. Year 3, with possibility of MD promo in 3 years The offer is L6 ( senior PM) at Amazon Current comp : 220 K (+ 7-12% bonus) Offer : 200 K Base , 2000 RSU , Bonus 100 K Y1 , 80 K Y2 Taking a hit on base but with bonus, will be well over current comp. RSUs can go either way I suppose based on market. I’m only used to cash, so a bit hesitant Now , why do you think I shouldn’t take this new offer ? #EY # Amazon
Senior manager. It is the level before partner or managing director. But it takes a lot of grind to make either and I have been given a 3 year timeline. If I make md , I would still be below Amazon’s offer. Partner of course is another story , but not really sure im getting that
I heard you learn lots at Amazon. Depends on what your goal is
Good offer for L6 PM
Bonus is usually paid out prorated with your salary, not a lump sum. At least that's how it is for me. So bonus is basically base
Whats weird is that the new offers don't seem to be baking in the 15% growth assumption in stock price. Good for the candidate but bad news for those who may have joined 12 months back
Coming out from consulting, I’d say, go for it!! Work as a PM is much more rewarding than being a consultant / dealing with junk work assigned by condescending clients
TPM is one of the least respected roles at Amazon. Most are disliked for they bring no value to SDEs. They are known for creating artificial stress and panic, speak they should shut up, and shut up when they should speak. Most of the time, they are snitching with their head buried in idiotic excel spreadsheet and email updates, attending and creating meetings where none are needed, guilty of claiming recognition for work others delivered, turn everything they touch into bureaucratic process. If you can do everything except what I mentioned about, welcome to Amazon. Else you know.. just stay the f out. We have enough of those that who do all of the above I lm sad about. Regarding TC.. no Brainer. First 2 years you come out on top. If you last beyond that let's see. Most TPMs don't/ can't unless they have a thick skin/skull. Don't get too ahead of yourself. May better sense prevail over you Edit: I misread and provided feedback for TPM. I stand corrected but stand behind what I said about TPMs though.
TPM is very different from PM
Thanks. Well, I was hoping to get away from all that. Based on what you described , EY is 90% TPM.
