Hey blind fam, my close friend interviewed with tiktok over the last month, it's for a non tech role and the interview process was pretty fast and the feedback was positive after each round. The last round was with a talent partner who was asking about comp expectations and said they would reach out in a few days with numbers, but nothing yet. It's been a little over a week now and he is concerned if they skipped him or he would still get an offer. Any insights here ? He is worried if sending a follow up will come across as desperate.
looks promising if they explicitly mentioned numbers. i would follow up & recruiters are fairly responsive iβd say from my experience. what is the non tech role btw? time required depends on team/region/scope of the role
Thank you, it's for the product operations role... And I read there is a layoff at tiktok in global operations.. do u think it will impact hiring?
Yeah theres a mass lay off going on atm at Tiktok. Regional product ops are being cut.
For posterity, my friend got a reject after he followed up.. no reasons given. what is so confusing is that unlike other companies, tiktok schedules interviews one at time only if the previous round goes well. And all the interviewers have positive feedback and that is how he was able to talk with the recruiter about comp in the end. But still got a rejection and I am reading similar experiences for many in Blind and so something is definitely fishy here,, god only knows what this company is up to.

Follow-up post a week isn't desperation. Go ahead and send out an email requesting for an update.
