Hello Blind, I have finally decided to start making a transition into tech as a swe, came up with a few options, would like to hear what the best option is in your opinion. Feel free to suggest other options too. Option 1: Join a part time bootcamp like HR, CodeSmith etc (This will take ~36 weeks) Pros: Better networking, proper interactions with instructor, paying so much so will stick to it Cons: Expensive, 36 weeks is almost 9 months, a bit too long (I would like to make the jump quicker) Option 2: Coursera along with FCC: Get the UCSD Data Structures & Algorithm cert and other important ones. Finish FCC bootcamps along side it and keep applying and using leetcode Pros: Faster (can put in 3/4 hours a day for 3-4 months), much cheaper Cons: Harder to network, no job/interview support Which one do you think is a more sensible option that will maximize my chances to get to tech. I have a math degree so maybe that can help a bit in landing interviews once I have some CS background on my resume. If you’re wondering why I am switching to swe, it’s because all I do at work is edit excel sheets, and that’s what the seniors do too, don’t think I am getting anywhere if I stay in the actuarial field. Some projects I get to work with sql and that’s fun and interesting, besides that I am pretty bored. #swe #bootcamp #help #softwareengineer Yoe: 1 TC: 85k
No idea between the two but along with either option think of publishing some code in github to show that you can code and share it in your resume. Also try and contribute to some open source software.
Actuaries make bank. Stay where you are, do what you do.
Not really, ceiling is prob ~250 with 15-20 yoe and all exams passed.
How many exams have you completed?
