I am applying for a Schengen visa from India. From the documents required for the visa, an NOC document from the current employer seems to be important. How do I obtain an NOC from my current employer without informing them my purpose of visit ? If I tell them that I am going for travel, they will probably add that to the NOC letter as the reason, which will contradict my invitation letter.
I mean, is your current employer actually sending you to Amsterdam to work and having you commit to coming back afterwards? If not, they probably won’t because they have exactly zero need to and it’s not their job to facilitate your leaving...?
Just tell your employer that you are travelling for tourism. That's what I do.
And ofcourse apply for a tourist visa
You don't need that noc. I applied without it
Yups No NOC required.
Ok, do I require a formal letter of leave from my current employer, or is even that not needed ?
No NOC required
You need nothing from your current employer. I also had same doubts. I approached a consultancy, they too said I need a NOC from my current employer. I proceeded without NOC. Nobody asked for it. If you still have a doubt, call the embassy and ask them. There are so many Indians here in booking, mostly nobody got NOC.
Have them send a letter of invitation to the embassy in India where you plan to apply. I remember doing that for my interview with Google in Zurich. This was many many years back though.
I do have a letter of invitation addressed to the embassy in India. But from what I have read online for the visa process, I also need an NOC from my current employer, which is where I am facing this issue.
