Hello all, I am 26 female currently reside in USA and I am facing acne issues from past 2 years very badly. I used tea tree oil -saw some improvements and again it increased,I used my family doctor prescription- didn't see much change ,I visited famous dermatologist in India - it was better but again it increased , now currently subscribed to curology-still under observation. When I meet other females of my age I feel so bad about myself and my looks. I wonder if anybody would even accept me for marriage My mom keeps telling "get rid of acne" I feel really bad when things and treatments don't work. Can anyone help me with a good solution and tips to look good . Would really appreciate it #mentalhealth #acne
I don’t have good advice, but I’m sorry you have to deal with that. If the problem only started in the last few years, then maybe it’s due to medication you are taking. Did you change your birth control regimen? Or other medicines? They could affect hormones and influence acne.
I am not on any medication actually. I just took the doxcy tablets as suggested by my dermatologist but otherwise nothing else
Sometimes it is diet also. Sugar causes some of my friends to break out very badly. You could try to eat less sugar and see if you observe any changes. Same for dairy for some people though that might be harder. Best of luck
You are right actually I am currently on low sugar diet . Need to see how it works .
Also try avoiding milk products. Cutting out milk helped me clear my skin
Doxycycline Hyclate (oral) and clindamycine(topical) worked for me for a bit, but your body tends to get used to it over time.
Yes the same thing happened with me as well
I had these prescribed as well as tretinoin
Hi, did you start having issue after moving to the usa? I started having issues right after moving here and never had any issue before after teen years ( M , in 30s). Allergy.. don't know ? I tried tea tree oil , benzyl peroxide n salicylic acid over a span of time. They controlled the acne to good extent but not fully. ( Be careful with them.. may harm skin if used too much ).I met a dermo too but he gave something on similar line. The thing that worked for me was location change...spent 3 months in Europe and boom! They disappeared. I speculate it is the humidity in air here and water in the usa. Use humidifer and drink filtered or bottled water. Good luck
Actually my situation is different , first year when I moved to USA and return to India. My skin tone was amazing and I had got a clear skin. But from second year onwards it started getting bad . You are right ,I am using humidifier and also filtered water.
Regardless of whether the suggestions help or not, always know that you are beautiful just as you are ❤️
Just go to a dermatologist and get treatment. My acne problem was resolved pretty quickly after I went to the doctor. I wish I didn’t spend years trying all the random products, not eating this and that, trying to cure myself. Continued the treatment for 1.5 years. And now it’s been 2-3 years since I completed the treatment, and doing just fine!
It seems like the OP did see a dermatologist in India. If i was in your shoes OP, i would go visit more dermotologists to see if doctors have different opinions about how to treat your skin. And agreed with walmart, I was struggling for 4-5 years with bad skin and after one visit to the dermotologist, my skin stopped breaking out in a month. I was so mad I wasted time seeking treatment because I still have to laser off my scars.
I would highly highly suggest seeing an experienced esthetician. They can customize facials, skin care products etc so that it works specifically for your skin. I had terrible acne and was always self conscious without makeup. I’ve used product recommendations from youtubers, gone to multiple different dermatologists, tried prescription pills, topical gels, and almost started accutane. Only an esthetician was able to help me. My skin has cleared up 85-90%. If you’re in the Bay Area, PM me and I’ll share her info.
Thank you for the detailed information. I am happy to know you got out of the acne issue. I can put in efforts to actually Go and visit or get in touch with esthetician. Would really be helpful to get the contact
See your doctor and get tested for any hormone issues. Try to reduce stress and develop healthy daily routine. Avoiding certain foods that triggers acne might help.
Fix your diet and fix your friend circles.
Check out spironolactone! It worked wonders for me. I had to go up to 100mg (and takes like a month to fully kick in) but for the first time in years I have clear skin, I get compliments on it all the time and feel weird about it because they had no idea what I went through to get here. I’ve been on it for years with no weird side effects.

Thank you for the suggestion .I shall definitely try this out. Do I need a prescription for this? Are there any side effects with it?
