I am curious what happens when you accept an offer from a company and then don’t join it. Say you are on H1 , so you accept the offer to get the transfer started. After transfer is filed you ask your current employer for a counter offer, which they match. (The transfer acts as a back up in case you don’t get counter). You won’t have to do this if you are GC/citizenship holder, but not an option for H1 holders.

I think it depends on the circumstance, but definitely heard of cases where companies blacklisted candidates for not sharing salary history before. Batshit crazy!
