Been working at Comcast for 4+ yrs. I've been working on a big product for the past 2 years now, and early next year, it will launch. I am so tired of Comcast not promoting me and low balling me. Should I wait for the product to launch and use press materials to beef up my portfolio or just move to higher paying job now? Yoe:6 TC: 160K #tech
How will a product launch help? More visibility to the hiring managers? Also, if you can get a higher paying job now, isn’t that what you want post product launch as well?
as they say for stocks, time in the market over timing the market. there will always be a new/launching product and management promising golden eggs. you know you don’t like it - find something that will make you excited and go.
Very interested in FB oculus team lol
I was in a similar position to you, I want to leave my current role so badly. I think it’s okay to mentally check out of your current role and go hard on practicing for interviews! It’s always easier/better to find another job when you’re currently employed
Aaaand I misread your question lol. Go for that new role!! You can always delay the start date so that it’s after the launch
Gtfo while you can
Switch now. Why leave money on the table.
move
I mean you have to pass the leetcode even if the product launches right? What’s stopping the move now.
Very valid. Others don't care but my future employers might and I do so. You should keep on working on childrens games
How do you know if the product will succeed? Even if it launched after you leave you can still tell your future companies that I worked on the product before it launched.
I mean try to get the job you want now and if you fail cause of experience then hold out til you have the right framing…
How horrible is Amazon's PIP culture? Is it valid reason not to work there?
If you’re competent you won’t get PIP’ed but don’t bother with Amazon anyways. It sucks
