Would 1M be enough to retire in India? Assuming frugal lifestyle.By retire I mean I would work but I have a backup in case I want to rake it easy for a few months in a year.
Do you already have or bought house/flat in India ? Mutual funds typically gives 13-20% returns
Renting is heavily in favor of the renter in India from what I had read not too long ago. I'd rather invest in a holiday home in Goa.
Whatever u do ..dont come to BLR
How you would divide your 1M in different asset classes ? How much % in usd vs in rupee ? How you plan to deal with crazy inflation ? Indian stock market ?
I would say 50% usd and 50% INR. USD would be mostly in index funds and select high growth stocks INR would be mutual funds. That way I think you could get a decent return and counter inflation to a certain extent.
Building a shopping area (with 3 to 4 units) in a bigger town and renting would be a good investment to retire.
You cannot buy shopping areas for a million dollars in big cities, what age are you in, this is not the 80s :D the returns for a million in small cities do not justify the investment
That's why I said in bigger towns. Dude it's for retirement. How much return do u need? In 80s you don't need 1M$ u could do it with 300k$. With 2 - 2.5cr rupees u can build very good shopping area with 4 units in towns and get atleast 12lakh per year in rent. Which is good for retirement in towns.
At what age are you planning on retiring with 1 M dollars?
If you donât mind disclosing, can you help me understand how will you build the 1 mill usd corpus.
1 M rupees is definitely not enough!
1M USD
50% in US stock+index fund. 25% ind mf's + 25% ind rental property
$1M USD is more than enough for India. But would be tough if you want to retire in a first world country. Would recommend $2-2.5M if you want to retire in Canada or USA
It seems you will be heavily invested in stock market (50 in us and 25 in India ) how you gonna get liquidity ? Many stocks wonât give you dividends , You going to dilute your stake to support your life ...
I have close to 300k now.Im looking to set a target amount before I return.I doubt the 1M can be all liquid. It will all be in investments(mostly stock market).I stay away from real estate investing.
What about currency depreciation?
