I have two offer in hand currently and would like to know your thought between them. Grubhub (SWE II) Base: $135k RSU: $300k/4y TC: $210k Twilio (L2) Base: $125k RSU: $175k/4y Sign-on bonus: $5k TC: $169k (After negotiation. They said it’s the best they can offer for this position. I lived in Phoenix btw) Both remote positions. In terms of RSU, Grubhub is better than Twilio but stock prices keep decline in the past two years and has one year cliff whereas Twilio would vests on first quarter. However, GH seems to have better WLB and also half-day off on Friday is pretty attractive. I have two more on-site interviews scheduled in the next two weeks but neither are remote positions. I personally prefer the flexibility of remote works. YOE: 3 TC: $105k #grubhub #grubhubcompensation #twilio
op, do you know of these companies pay different according to whether you are in a HCOL or LCOL location?
Grubhub mentioned the TC would be higher in New York as they had office in there. What I heard for Twilio is they paid by geographic location.
What team in twilio
Phoenix is an 80% tier. That’s a very solid L2 offer (for twilio).
I'd go Grubhub, I got a very similar offer from them and from what I can tell they have a pretty good working culture and WLB. If you think you want to move around in the US, I was told pay does not differ (other than like you already said, if you choose to live in NY they can offer more). That being said though, their future is somewhat uncertain, so I wouldn't expect to stick around all that long.
Grubhub makes sense, more $$ better WLB and culture, tech is decent. Recent attrition is actually good, clears out runway to move up.
Update: Ended up deciding to join Grubhub. The final TC is 210k.
Hey, are you still active, I have questions about your offer
Honestly, if I was looking at them side by side, I would have picked grubhub. That said, grubhub stocks will drop slowly but steadily until and unless they do something about their product roadmap. Twilio on the other hand is a steady ship with opportunities to grow. I would go Twilio and jump out in a couple of years.
Thanks for your advice! I was actually thinking about the same thing. Twilio seems has better career growth and opportunities.
Happy to help.
