Edit: not Nordstrom I’ve been working professionally in industry since 2018 (2015 if you include internships). Out of the roughly 6 or 7 companies I’ve worked at (including big tech), I’ve finally scored a job where I both respect the company and people. For anyone who is disheartened by this industry, there is hope. The manager is extremely welcoming, the team is very thoughtful and respectful and the work is well organized. For managers out there reading this, I feel it’s important to really build an inclusive environment for people. My past companies have always expected some grind mindset and tried to instill fear and competition on the team. It has always led me to early burnout. People here don’t constantly ping you, don’t make everything urgent and they give flexibility to allow developers to breathe. We have only ONE meeting and it’s standup. We don’t just share status, we share learnings and help each other. We don’t bother with updating Jira in screenshare and get bombarded by product. Anyways, I was burned out for a while and now I’m motivated. Wishing everyone here the best in their job searches and please, find good teams, it’s not always about the TC. and with that, TC: 250k
4 YOE TC 250k + good team + WLB. Congratulations!
