I currently work for a VAR (Value Added Reseller) where we take OEM products, optimize for customer requirements deploy at customer sites. HPC solutions. Now I secured a job at my dream company how ever I am waiting for my immigration (H1B COE) to resign. My current joining date is 12/13. This process is time consuming and has been going on for a month now and my application is not yet submitted to USCIS. (Fragomen works in its own timeline) In my current company they are picking up (selling) projects which I will be responsible for to be deployed in January and February. I am the only one here with knowledge to deploy these solutions. I am not able to tell my employer that I will be leaving soon and I am feeling guilty that I will leave the team and company high and dry. Another option is to ask future employer to move joining date by 2 months and finish all pending work at current employer. How ever I think thy might not accept this, also this will cost me a annual refresher (joining after 12/31 will not qualify me for 2022 refresher) Current TC — $155k Future TC — $335k
Why not write a doc to transfer the knowledge and share it with team. After H1B approval, announce your plan to resign and keep 1-2 weeks for in person knowledge transfer. This will mean only 2-3 weeks delay in joining date not 2 months.
Ya the problem is there is no one as of now do that work once I move off… and the work is not SW only it includes on-site deployments which can’t really be documented…
CDW > Cisco?
Not really CDW it’s a small company that’s why I am the only one who has knowledge on certain technologies. If I give away my company name it’s easy to know who I am.
