I got an early offer from my school for a PhD program, and am probably going to take that or another PhD offer. Currently have a job offer lined up from a post-IPO tech company, and want to maybe convert to an internship if possible, as itโs too late and Iโm too busy to get anything else over the summer. Iโll get some extra cash from my school if I accept them, and I got some untouched savings, but the more money, the better honestly. Also theyโre a remote heavy company, so I wonโt be sacrificing too much of the summer I think. How do I navigate the conversation with HR? They do know that Iโm considering the PhD option, and my recruiter was shocked to find out PhD programs take 5+ years. I asked if I could intern instead next summer, and she said she would get back, but only followed up with the offer. The team I worked with last summer gave me perfect ratings and wants me back, and itโs early enough where not all intern offers have been handed out. Thinking about going in from a data science angle since they do have some teams focused on that. Iโm not really considering a job at this point, I think Iโll lose my mind if I become a code monkey right away TC: $175k (not Comcast) or $35k YOE: 0
