im 5 years in to my career, a L4 senior program manager at google, i focus on go to market strategy. i work with our product teams to commercialize products. FB approached me on LinkedIn and want me to interview for a headcount planning role. it would be very different for me to move to a HR role. they claim they want a strong program manager, which I am. but i wont have any knowledge on headcount planning. i make a base of 120k right now. fb is offering 165k base. it is a very meaningful jump in salary for me. i doubt myself if i can succeed in the role. to add complexity, i am in final stages of the green card process, and while there is allowance for me to switch employers at the moment, it could slow things down or add complexity down the road which makes me somewhat reluctant to jump ship in the current immigration environment. honest thoughts/opinions would be appreciated to help me see how people would approach this. the money would mean a lot to me at the moment but a huge risk.
If your title is Senior Program Manager at L4 with 120k base I’m guessing you’re an enterprise pgm in Cloud. In that case I’d gtfo
Why ?
It can't hurt to interview. Even if you don't take it, you'll know what you're worth. Interview first, decide later. If you don't pass the interviews it's a moot point. Either way, you get valuable interview practice.
hm, they have indicated 165 base without you even starting the interview process? sounds fishy. I guess pass the interview first and see what the numbers actually are.
