My friend has been in sales/account management in the food production industry most of his career (Simplot, Norpac Foods, Sysco.) He is trying move into tech, into software sales or an enterprise sales role. His current comp is $110K base, 10% bonus. He has 2 years at Dell in a Technical Sales role so I'm hoping that helps get him interviews despite most of his experience being outside tech. How hard will it be for him to make the change? Will tech companies consider him for sales roles given most of his career is in the Food industry? Any recommendations for roles he should try and apply for?
Wow.. i’m in tech sales and want out. i’m trying to move into the food and beverage space.
Lol.. okay. He said that food manufacturing and distribution are very difficult these days because of Supply Chain issues. That he would get clients but then there was nothing to sell them. That they are prioritizing current customers so it was very had to get any new accounts (which was the bulk of his bonus.)
