Gilead Sciences RSU Refresh?
Wondering if anyone at Gilead knows whether RSUs are either offered each annual cycle, at less frequent intervals, or only at the initial offer. I know that RSUs at Gilead typically vest over 4 years, but it's unclear if it is refreshed like at most tech companies. #biotech #gilead #compensation

You have to be bold to even think about joining Gilead! Everyone and their mother is looking elsewhere (🙋🏻♂️) But yes, they do give annual RSUs with performance bonuses.

you should get an annual refresh even if you just meet expectations. The refresh will usually just default to the standard amount for your level. If you perform well it can be quite a bit more than that. There’s also rsu awards that can be given out as well that aren’t tied to the annual cycle that vest on a different schedule
What is standard amount for annual refresh at different levels? Director is maybe 35%? How high can it go beyond that—are we talking 50% of base, 100%, 150%…?
the standard refresh is uniform across functions. salary can vary quite a bit for same level but in different functions. The standard annual refresh: M - 20k, SM - 35k, AD - 45k, D - 60k, SD - 80k, ED - 150k, VP - pretty wide but usually +250k. Refresh can potentially be greater than salary at ED and above. There’s some leeway in giving out RSUs. I think the highest I’ve seen at below ED was around +80% vs standard.
Best place to do politics , starts from leadership . CEO has questionable judgement . But who cares - when you are getting paid .
Isn’t Gilead calling people back in office soon? I declined their offer back in March because of that
Seeing the rsu numbers are interesting but when compared to others on stock price appreciation… it just becomes deferred bonus growing at not even bank interest or inflation rate…you really have to reconsider if it’s worth it
Technically not true cause RSUs do receive dividends. Yield has basically been hovering around 4% last couple years. So even if share price is flat it’s still better returns than bank savings and the yield is higher than historical inflation too
Sounds right but to the earlier point of deferred bonus..that sounds right too…you have to hold vested RSUs for a year before benefitting from long term gains tax rate, and one just wonder if the time factor to stay around to wait for vesting and then to possibly hold after vesting when the stock doesn’t appreciate (guess there is no point holding when there is no caps gain), there has got to other better investment vehicles…totally understand why companies give RSUs for retention but from the financial side, our RSUs just are not worth that much other than the cash value they were granted in

You’ll obviously know more. They gave me a shit offer a few months ago. Based on the initial RSUs they gave me, I don’t think their refreshers will be much higher
