How is Rippling, work culture wise? Saw a ton of negative comments on Glassdoor. Also their 9B valuation seems a lie. Anyone care to comment?
It’s great! Most of the negative reviews are from people who got fired for expecting a lazy 25 hour work week and got pissy when somebody asked them to do real work or get fired.
The thing you have to understand about Rippling is that the company has fired a lot of (rightfully bitter) people and encouraged a lot of sycophants. Whenever you hear something positive about Rippling, you have to assume it’s from a sycophant who is being brainwashed by grand dreams of riches. Whenever you hear something negative, you have to assume it’s from somebody who was unfairly fired and can’t understand why. When in doubt, I choose to listen to the fired people over those that are still there. Rippling skews very young and impressionable. A lot of the people that love it there don’t know what a real, stable company looks like.
Depends on the team, but overall for most of the teams it is strong NO. The WLB and Work Culture is very bad and is getting worse day by day after the new leadership. You are expected to be 24/7 . Endless on calls
What org? Everyone logs off on slack after 5. You are expected to show up during work hours and to ship actual code.
Trash
Pretty garbage compared to the general market. Pros: - comp (base comp) - career growth Cons: - wlb 50+ hours a week on a good week - micromanagement from the exec level - cut throat + pip culture Expect exec leadership to (regularly) ask you as an IC direct questions and progress reports - even though you’re sharing the same with your manager. Expect the execs to have misaligned expectations and have you figure it out…
Anyone at Rippling able to provide referrals for a PM role? TIA!!
Heard their CEO/CTO use a spreadsheet to pick out people with the most unvested equities and fire them before the vesting day. They didn’t do any layoff but used this method to get rid of expensive employees and replace them with cheap ones.
Where did you hear this from?
From a friend, who is an EM at rippling, he lose about 1/3 of his reports last half, all fired directly without his, his skip’s, his director’s involvement. Have nothing to do with performance. So they can only guess the direction is from C-level.
