I've tried to find an answer to this question and I'm sure it has been answered, but I can't find specific info - so apologies if this is a duplicate. I have about 6yrs, 3 months of tenure at Amazon and I'm an SDE1 (L4). I transferred into the SDE job family about 2 years ago. I believe that due to a mixture of my own abilities and several things outside of my control (projects getting cut, massive reorgs disrupting work), that I'm on the path to PIP. I'm currently applying to new roles outside of Amazon, and I'm confirming with my manager next week if I'm on focus. Does anyone have any insight into what the severance amount for PIP would be? My understanding is that if you choose to enter into the performance plan period, that typically lasts 2 months. So my break even decision would have to be whether the severance offer is greater than 2 months salary (or length of PIP process) + cost of benefits + any RSUs that would vest during that period. Anything above that is good. Does anyone know if tenure is factored into the severance offer? Anyone gone through this recently that can give me concrete (ish) numbers? Trying to budget out the next 4-5 months or so which is the time I'm allowing myself to find a new role. Thanks in advance. #amazon #amazonaws #pip TC: $152k (remote, los angeles)
My math came out to be: Leave now, no plan = 1/4 base salary = 13 weeks End of plan, no appeal = 4 weeks Appeal = 2 weeks PIP plan is 4 weeks for me, so shorter than yours. I have an RSU vest in ~17 days, so financially, better to go through the PIP.
Was it 13 weeks of base or 13 weeks of base + bonus?
I had 2y ternure at Amazon as a L4 SDE and they offered me something like 12 weeks of paycheck.
Thanks for the insight, that's sorta ballpark what I was expecting, but I do have a small stock vest which would likely happen during that time so maybe they'll account for that. How long did it take you to find a new role
I found a new role in less than 1 month, but the market was very different back them (2019)
