2018 just 5 years back anyone earning 100k base was happy and living successful life, housing was affordable, and 500K house was a big deal in most of the US off course i am not talking about CA ,NY. In 2022 1M house is not a big deal. People are paying 1M for just 2500 sq ft home and If you earn 200K base ,u don't feel happy . Everything is crazy. Lets see how 2023 ends and what shift it offers. #engineering #software #swe #technology
100k wasn't shit in most HCOL or MCOL areas 5 years ago and it still isn't now. House prices have always been messed up in those same areas. You sound like a boomer.
My TC was 90k in 2017. Was super happy, saving ~3k a month. Nowadays everything's more expensive, from mortgage to groceries. TC 180 and only been able to save 1.5k.
How's that even possible
Why can't you save 3k in 180 TC? Definitely your lifestyle upgraded. Inflation is not that high
There was a time when 100k was a big deal in MI. Many were surprised when Ford offered me slightly above 100k. Amazon was then giving 95k base for sde s.
True 100k is nothing these days , family of four cannot survive
I was making 150k in 2018. I could afford a house, saving $3k a month, and was doing quite well. Now, I’m making more than double that, and I can’t afford a house where I live. Still save about $3k a month, but $3k isn’t as much now.
There was a time when I was making no money at all, zero TC, and then suddenly I got my first paycheck and I was making a lot more money. And I was very happy to be able to repay my debts. My first home cost less than a million United States dollars, and years later, that home sold for more than two million United States dollars.
