I have an opportunity of buying Epic Games shares on Equityzen. Proposed valuation is around 15Bn. Does that sound right or is it actually lower internally?
I would buy at that.
The question is: what’s the internal valuation they give you stocks at?
That is internal confidential information
Unity market cap is $13B. That is a good comp for just the engine business for Epic. Then there’s Fortnite, etc.. easily $30+B valuation.
This.
Apple just announced a partnership with Unity for Vision Pro… would that affect Epic Games negatively?
Don’t buy. Company is poorly managed. We struck gold once, with Fortnite. I don’t see it happening again.
We struck gold once with Unreal, we struck gold one with Gears of War, we struck gold once with UE5. Definitely just a one trick pony.
Nah, the rest is all bronze - the audience is more niche. While the tech may be good, you need a platform that can scale to a very large audience base. IMO Fortnite has seen its best days already.
I think you are just too focused on the technical aspects of scalability (solvable) and have a very limited view of what else is going on at the company.
It’s not just a simple technical problem waiting to be solved. We are probably gonna continue as a smaller company as we are today, but I don’t see any rapid growth on the horizon, and not with the people calling the shots around here.
I’m a little late to the party but hopefully you didn’t do it. That’s above the market price, but EquityZen is always above market. You can get it cheaper on Hiive, plus you won’t have to pay fees.
What is the market price?
They’d be around $425 but it depends on exact size. May even get a small seller at $400
Would not buy it for $15B
Why? Previous valuation was 32Bn in 2022.
