Recruiter is telling me there will be consulting-type case study for second interview. I haven't read an income statement in my life. Anyone know if recruiter misspoke and it'll be some sort of Data Modeling/Analytics case study? #quantumblack #dataengineer #mckinsey
It’s very similar to what the regular McK consultants do since you’ll be client facing. IMO is pretty stupid but keep in mind lots of people spend a lot of time prepping for these roles.
Right - the breadth of the topics to study is something else. First screen Hackerrank were two tricky DP question. Then they'll be asking SQL/Spark questions in another round. Then on top of that a business case study. All for ~170k TC. 🤔
Not to mention they aren’t that technically skilled. Then you have to travel and work 80 hours a week. You gotta love the work and lifestyle.
In my (dated) experience, consulting case interviews were just testing your fluency with back of the envelope calculations. For example I had one where I had to estimate the annual concession at a pro football stadium. You have to walk through the math, e.g. "8 games per year, 75k people at each game, a beer costs, 65% of people are adults, 50% of them but one beer, 25% buy two, 10% buy three, etc and a beer costs $15, so that's $Z for beer. Now let's think about food..." There should be a ton of resources online for case interviews.
Thank you!
