Saw this posted by 2nd level connection. Wanted to get the community's thoughts on these kinds of call outs, especially as they name, shame and link the offending manager: ----------------- My heart is heavy. I will no longer be silent. I finally got the courage to speak out about my work experience at The Coca-Cola Company & Swire Coca-Cola, USA. I was the only Black Woman on my team and at the Bellevue, WA office for a long time. In my former position as a Market Development Manager, I experienced so much racism. Have you ever been sexually harassed by a customer and your manager tells you, "maybe you should stop wearing makeup?" That was my manager [Name/Linkedin Redacted]. Have you ever had a (WHITE) co-worker ask you "Where you were from?" and when you say "Chicago" she throws her hands up and says "DONT SHOOT!" and laughed. After that, she asked me " Are you afraid of DWB?" I said, "What's DWB?" Driving while Black. I couldn't stomach what I was hearing. I told my manager [Name/Linkedin Redacted] He laughed and said "oh that's not good." Have you ever had a (White) co-worker who touched your hair without asking? I couldn't express how I really felt because I would be looked at as the "Angry Black Woman." So I kept my head down. When I found out [Name/Linkedin Redacted] never reported my issues to HR I knew I had to create an exit strategy plan. A year later I removed myself from that toxic work environment and I never looked back since. #BlackOutTuesday #BlackLivesMatter [End of her LinkedIn post] EDIT: FWIW the named and shamed manager works at AMZN now as an Account Exec EDIT 2: There are a couple of posts with folks saying they are sorry this happened to me. While I appreciate their thoughts, this did not happen to me... the victim is a second level LI connection who I don't know personally and I don't work in her company. Her original post is public on LI, but I will not share links or names, even if you DM me, as I don't want to run afoul of Blind's community guidelines. UPDATE 1: Her old company reached out to her: [Name Redacted], thank you for sharing your experiences. We are so sorry to hear this. What you describe is abhorrent and does not represent our values in any way. Swire Coca-Cola firmly supports Black Lives Matter and equal justice for everyone. Thank you for having the courage to speak up and for putting forward a suggestion of how companies an improve. Our head of Human Resources if keen to listen and learn more from you directly. Please let us know if a conversation is something you would consider. UPDATE 2: Her response to the above (copied and pasted): Swire Coca-Cola, USA Thank you for reaching out to me on LinkedIn. You have my phone number and email address please feel free to reach out to me to schedule a time to discuss my work experience and my recommendations for your company to educate your employees on racial discrimination. Please ensure your president is on this call since your entire leadership team is WHITE. I’m looking for change, diversity program implementation, attitude, and vision that are real drivers of progress to make sure my people that follow in my footsteps can benefit from a cleaner work environment simply because we (black & brown people) should not have to deal with discrimination based off of the color of our skin. As for Amazon Business Amazon please ensure your employee [Name Redacted] Has the proper Racial Bias diversity training. Even though [Name Redacted] has not reached out to me it’s important that this does not happen again. For all of you who have filled my inbox about your experience working Swire Coca-Cola, USA I encourage you to speak out. Tell your story! #blacklivesmatter #georgefloyd #changeforthebetter -----------------------------------------------

Name and shame 💯
These managers should be named and shamed identical to the metoo movement. There are many crappy people who take advantage of their positions of power and their power needs to be taken away forever.
Totally agreed.
She burned the bridges. But if she doesn't care about that then she's good to go
Lol wut
Holy crap, you are a terrible person.
I don't think it's right. Complaint to hr make public post about the company if it doesn't work. But naming the person is gonna shut the doors on them. Just imagine the ramifications of that. The person might have their entire family depend on them who will suffer for no mistake of theirs. revenge is not the right path to justice and should not be encouraged.
wtf!!! Name and shame definitely!!
Depends on whether there’s supporting evidence
If someone is willing to put their name and word behind it and risk a liable lawsuit that's good enough for me. It's not like this would cause someone to go to jail. It's one person's professional reputation against another's. If that person is actually a good manager others will defend them by sharing their positive experience. I know I would for the truly good managers I've had. Also, that person is free to defend themselves and offer a rebuttal.
She’s not risking anything, it’s mob mentality and everyone takes her side no matter whether something is true or false. This mob justice has to end.
From what I gather, no evidence besides what was written.
Odds are this did happen to her so hopefully she can provide supporting evidence if she’s ever called out. Otherwise she’s just taking advantage of the situation just like the looters
Companies don’t ask for evidence anymore when a mob comes after them
Wait. Touching hair is weird, but racist? That’s a big stretch
Not racist, but rude and ignorant. Assuming you grew up white (because you dont understand this concept), and I had never seen your color and directly touched your hair or skin without asking, how would you feel?
Yea it’s weird but I don’t think the person being white makes it any more or less weird. I think it would be equally weird if another POC touched a black woman’s hair.
I am so sorry to hear about this OP
Didn't happen to me but appreciate the sentiment
Fake or real?
