What's your opinion about this type of daylight robbery? My friend's car was broken in last year near SF, my sister lost her purse like this 4 years back in Foster City. #sanfransisco #crime #california #menace
Same genre of people committing these crimes. Why is that?
The same groups of people live in the LCOL city where I do. And yet they don’t do this or at least do it way, way less frequently. Turns out pretty much everyone can live a dignified life under a government that doesn’t encourage crime, homelessness and drug abuse.
Genre lol, Hagan das jumping through hoops here
Imagine a country with no social welfare system, bad healthcare, expensive education, high rents where politics tend to ignore certain communities over decades. Now imagine putting everyone who made it in this system together with everyone who didn't make it in this system in one city. What do you think will happen?
Crime is crime. Don’t have to justify it.
All of these factors considered, US has one of the best cops to people ratio and they should be able to control this, right? That's the point bothering me more
I never see Asians, Hispanics, or whites doing any of these day light robberies. Those crimes are very specific.
Why can't people identify and act on them? Sincerely asking this question, not a rhetoric
It is the system. The system need to be changed. Cannot be soft on crime. Cage and hard labor is what we need for criminals.
It’s not just a SF thing. I live in South Carolina and we have people coming into our neighborhoods in my town at night and breaking into people’s cars. Don’t leave anything of value in your car (like a purse) unattended. There are thieves looking to steal your stuff no matter where you live. Edit to add- we’ve had car thefts during the say as well.
I have lived in Florida and my friend's community routinely experienced wheel thefts. I acknowledge that it's there in other parts of US too. I just feel SF has gone out of hands.
Because in highly populated areas there is more opportunity for such crimes.
Starts with how people are raised. There’s a link to Single parent households and crime. Then combined with lax enforcement and punishment of crimes, people know they can continue to get away with this.
Those baby daddies really spoilt the cities eh?
As an outsider you arrest too many people, make them work in your for-profit prisons, and then don't give them any social support. It's especially sad because of the racial demographics.
Democrats
thank kamala who kicked those folks out of jail
The part that has me confused is that so many people think this is new or strange. Petty crime and theft has always been an issue there. Fentanyl is an issue. Covid and a lack of affordable housing are issues. Tolerance of and resources for the mentally ill, as well as a hospitable outdoor climate may contribute. But it's mostly just... nothing new. It's the way that region has always been. You step over human feces on your way to work there today and you stepped over human feces on your way to work there 20 years ago. You don't leave valuables in your car there today and you didn't leave valuables in your car there 20 years ago.
Liberals!
The 5 states with highest crime rates are all conservatives for decades.
