Terrible experience at Siemens

I saw a position open at Siemens that looked pretty cool so I applied. I got an email from their recruitment folks asking for availability to speak with the hiring manager so I did. The chat was normal at first, what you'd expect from a hiring manager call. For context for what's about to come, I have left my last 2 jobs after about 1.5 years. At some point the hiring manager switched to talk about a previous job where I had been for a few years and started asking me about some specific people from that place, about what I thought about person X or person Y, which I thought was very odd. He spent a lot of time asking me questions about specific things that happened at that place and specific people. At the end he mentioned that Siemens doesn't pay as well as other companies and they he wouldn't hire anyone who last a year, a year and a half at jobs because if he was going to invest in someone it'd have to be someone who would be there for the long run, for their career and not for money. Basically, the way I saw it was he never thought of hiring me but when he saw that pervious employer in my resume he scheduled the call just to get some gossip out of it. He wasted my time and the worst part is that I was actually interested in the position. Basically at this point I would avoid this company based on this experince.

@RIV007 I thought about it, but it isn't worth my time to be honest. People like that will fail on their own without anyone making it happen but themselves.

Why go to Siemens from Paypal in first place? There’s no harm in jumping ships if your employer can’t keep up with assigning you role matching your skills and market pay.

I've done a little bit of everything in tech. The position at Siemens was for something that looked super interesting to me and that I haven't done. It wasn't that I don't like PayPal but rather that I wanted to try a new area in tech.

I am not a manager but if I were, why would I hire and invest in someone that wouldn’t last a year?

Hello, I am looking for a long term role as BA or PO. If any one is ok to provide a referral, I would be super grateful. Please and thank you.

If I may ask, was it a routers/switches or networking related role?
