Google hiring committee rejected my packet

I had interviewed at Google (Software engineer ML), a few months ago. There were supposed to be two subject interviews which for me was ML. The interviewers were definitely ML guys but what they asked was programming questions, hardly any ML. And now the #hiringCommittee rejected my packet saying ML basics are weak. I guess that was probably the reason why I wasn't getting a team match calls for so many days. Is there something I can do? #engineering #software #swe

Interviewing is just luck. Better luck next time

Can’t agree more. Keep trying and studying

Hiring committee made decision based on the interviewer feedback and the interview log. I believe some ML related interviewer had some feedback mentioning the ML basic is weak. You can contact with the recruiter to explain why you didn’t show your best part and ask for one more ML interview session. If recruiter doesn’t accept your request please try again next year. It’s very normal to get offer after multiple times of try. Good luck!

Heard that you can only try 3 times at google. Is that not the case?

Microsoft cabbageq May 16, 2020

Not true, you can try any number of times, but the question is why would you - it’s a super large sweatshop now

Is this for L4? So ML applicants can escape the dreaded leetcode interviews ? Isn't this cheating or a loophole to get into Google ?

Staples QvMV54 OP May 16, 2020

Yes, it was for L4. For me it was the coding only. Only one or two small ML questions.

It doesn't sound like an effective loophole ...

Going to committee doesn’t mean shit. Pushy recruiters and desperate hiring managers are more and more pushing apps that have no chance to see if they can catch the committee slipping. I think back in the day it used to mean something to go to HC and acceptance percentage was high, now a days HC to offer is still a good chance but has felt coin flippy. People with a no hire or leaning no hire are getting to HC and some people with leaning no hire are getting hired.
