I noticed that many product managers post too much wisdoms (they may think) on LinkedIn. Don’t they have any work ?
The good ones are too busy implementing/building There’s like the philosopher PMs (posters) & the real deal (they get things done + try to keep everyone happy as possible which is impossible)
More stupid and visibility hungry the PM, more content they post. Real ones usually repost a product that they built and company is marketing it
Most PMs only use LinkedIn to get their next jobs, but I guess some use it as their version of Instagram
What surprises me is the fact that that is seen as a great attribute of being a PM by most people.
As a PM, my question is why do hiring managers for jobs I’ve applied to keep looking at my LinkedIn but not contacting me for an interview? Starting to wonder if there’s an expectation that PMs are influencers now…
Insecurities, mostly. Narcissism some other times. The engagement, sharing insights are words to mask those core behaviors, imo.
