I'm on H1 and planing to go full time MBA for which I'll be on F1. I may have about 8 months left on my H1 then, would that be enough to apply for i140 once I graduate? Or, is it a better idea to consider PT/Online MBA as my current employer is working on my i140? Ugh, absolutely hate having to deal with these visa issues. :/ TC: 170k
Did you use your opt already? If yes then you won't get opt so you have to have your h1b employee from day1 one after you graduate. And also once you change your visa status doesn't your h1b get canceled?
I have about 1.5 years unused on OPT. H1 doesn't get cancelled as such if I move to F1, but since I'll have only about 8 months left on H1, I'll need have the employer refile i140 asap. I'm just not sure if that's enough time.
Your stem doesn't count here. Opt is opt which Is one year. You'll get opt only when you do higher degree. If you have masters degree already you won't get another opt
You will also need a job by graduation . I think one can stay in us for only 60 days on F1 (without opt) after graduation. Have you thought about this? For I 140, I think companies usually require at least a year to process.
Thanks! Considering PT, given all the factors.

Not recommended unless you are super rich
That's my good chance to switch career field, though
I won’t recommend it. Getting H1B is extremely hard specially if you don’t have STEM degree. Most companies don’t sponsor these days. The best way to switch careers is work for big company and switch positions internally. MBA is a worthless degree unless it’s top 3 schools and you have citizenship or green card.
