Hate when people say break into tech but

Not at Smartsheet anymore Past 4ish years, I have been strung along contract and short term positions working procurement/supply chain. Quickly realized it is not a passion. Currently in a local on-site full time position that feels like a dead end due to them blatantly stating I am there to replace an old timer that is nearing retirement. Only entered this line of work through a friend because I was looking to get out my customer service position at a particular fruit stand. Pretty sure that I’ve only gotten interviews because of my vague technical title there. I have spoken with a counselor at WGU to get an accredited degree. My previous college coursework grants me around a 30% completion already. My question to you Blinders is whether to move into Data Analytics or Computer Science fields. Feel like Data Analytics (eventually a masters in DS) would be a good step forward since I have financial modeling experience, actually somewhat skilled in Excel and the path to a degree would be quicker. Also would be easier to explain to a recruiter that I felt this would be a natural step forward from supply chain. Or Should I just go balls to the wall and commit to a CS degree? This will require more time in school and commitment, will be a tougher sell from supply chain->CS but assume the payoff is way, way higher. I managed to complete a C++ class in college but did not move forward after. I recognize the answers might be biased towards CS but I’d appreciate any feedback. Just looking to make positive change for my career and future. Current TC: 60k πŸ˜”

How about going to a good boot camp with job placement. Work hard, get a job and you will increase your TC. Once you get the job, seek out that tuition reimbursement.

Getting a degree will not make you stand out in the tech market. Lurk moar and get good at LC.
