how much notice period is required while changing jobs in IN? I heard varying ranges from 2 weeks to 3 months to 6 months. For 3/6 months, do the new employers wait that long? what happens if you dont serve the notice period? thinking to move back, so collecting data. #wipro #capgemini #infosys #startup
Typical Indian IT service players would have 2/3 months notice period. Most product engineering players , start ups would typically have one month notice period..have not come across any one with 2 weeks notice
So there is no 6 months? That’s good. What happens if you do not provide the required notice? In US, it’s employment at will. No impact, basically you give notice so as to not burn bridges.
They can charge penalty or withhold some benefits (think PTO payout). But you can always work with both sides and find a common ground.
Varies from place to place. My ex startup had 1 month but friend's startup had 3. Don't expect less than a month tho
Product based companies have 1 month notice period only
Might have trouble teaching a fish to swim, but you can always peel a banana
It's never less than a month
Ex-Capgemini here, never switched company in India but notice period was 3 months when I planned to come to USA for MS. Sometimes Product based companies pay release clause to service based companies so that you can start new job asap
Thanks. Can you shed more light on release clause? How employees invoke it?
It’s all manager specific. DM me or I can Dm you. can’t reveal more here.
