I have used IB, Etrade and TDAmeritrade before. The UX of TDAmeritrade App is way better and customer support is extremely fast. For that reason thats my fav choice, although the fee is not the lowest. I have not tried RobinHood and would love to hear any feedback. it will be helpful to share your experience 😀
TD
+1 Been using TD since datek days
I’ve used IB, E-Trade, and Robinhood. I used Robinhood a long time ago and it absolutely sucked balls (haven’t used it recently so I don’t know if that has changed at all). E-Trade had an amazingly powerful desktop app (E-Trade Pro) that was a godsend for day-trading. They gave me plenty of free trades so the fees weren’t a concern; all I had to do was ask. Eventually when I stopped day-trading I transitioned over to IB completely. It’s good enough, cheap, fast, and I can continue to use it internationally if I ever decide to move back home. It also provides higher margin than most other brokerages.
What does IB stand for?
RH has a pretty intuitive UI but that’s partly because the number of features they offer are pretty limited; if all you’re gonna do is fund an account with ~5k then RH is fine for picking a few stocks and holding/messing with some day trading. If you’re looking for a serious platform with 20k+ that you’re going to continually fund go for one of the more mature platforms
