Has anyone read Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt? I just finished reading it and worry deeply about our twins growing up with social media. Problem is that we (husband and I) aren’t always the best role models either given that we spend time on call, checking emails and yes, Insta too. Curious if others have read this book or similar and have thoughts on this. #parenting #workingparent

Once they’re school age it’s going to be a lot harder so try to do as much non screen time as possible with your family. I’d also use your screen addiction the way a parent would use their nicotine addiction as a don’t smoke method. “Yes I’m addicted to my phone so I’m going to do my best to break the addiction and I don’t want to go through what I am”. Read to your kids, play games with them. Do as much fun things that don’t involve screens so when you do eventually have to do introduce screens they have a frame of reference of other activities. Family game night with no screens would be beneficial for the whole family. Weekend day trips. That sort of thing.
Thank you for your thoughtful response
