Rover vs pet boarding place
We found a person on rover who is a full time pet sitter and works out of his house. He was sitting around 10 dogs when we visited him. The dogs seemed happy and clean and had some backyard space. He also talked about taking them to the park daily and will send daily videos. The other option for us is to take our little guy to a boarding place such as the wag hotel in Santa Clara. My only concern is that this is a 10 day trip and the wag hotel only promises an hour of play per day, but has the upside of his own room, while at the sitter he is not likely to be bored but am worried about getting good sleep since there are so many other dogs (of friendly breeds). We do have friends who have offered to take care, but unfortunately I am not sold on their ability to do so

You should look up some of the horror stories about wag hotels. I wouldn’t leave my enemy’s dog with them. My dog has a regular walker, and that’s who I leave my dog with when I travel. If the pet sitter you visited has some decent references, that’s what I’d choose.

We found ours in Rover. They are a lovely family and has a very sweet golden retriever too. We already booked with them twice. Just find the one you like at Rover and stick with them so even your dog gets use to their family.
Where are you located out of ?
You could leave them with me :), I just started Rover, and have two of my own dogs that I love dearly. I am planning to keep only 2 dogs at a time. Please contact me if interested.
Been using rover for 3 years now and no complaints. Just see who has good reviews and....while judgy....inspect how their home looks when you drop off.
Unless I can leave my dogs with a family member, I use a kennel/doggy day care. My concern about a private party is that my dogs will be at their house, and they could loose their temper if something is destroyed. With a kennel it’s business as usual, there should be no emotion involved. Because there is nothing personal at stake
I would prefer stay home pet sitter. I had bad experiences with boarding and individuals. You can find stay home ones on rover.
