Have you seen this among your community or relatives? #tech #industrynews #amazon #google #microsoft #apple #swe
Yep it’s everywhere. Has got to be environmental. With the way the thought police came down hard on anyone who questioned the Covid vaccine, I’m even open to the possibility that it’s caused by vaccines. (I used to think this idea was absurd).
Yikes
You gotta be easily brainwashable sheep to think that the idea was absurd
Almost as common as vaccines lul
Super common.. it’s not a stigma anymore
Stigma or not doesn't matter...the fact remains that those affected have a very hard time coping with the "normal" world.
It’s probably always been common just undiagnosed
lol yet another sheep with an urge to repeat the same old argument she overheard and bah bah beh beh repeats it
This is a huge reason
99% of people who say they’re autistic or “on the spectrum” are self diagnosed and are not in fact autistic at all. Autism generally presents at 2-4 years of age, it doesn’t show up randomly later in life. “Masking” is not a thing, people who are actually autistic cannot hide their symptoms. If someone thinks they’re autistic, encourage them to get a professional diagnosis from a neuropsychologist. My partner is a neuropsych and is getting tons of people in their 20s coming in for autism assessments because they “don’t like the feel of paper straws” or “hate sirens”
Haha, no one likes the feeling of paper straws
Lets not trivialize autism. If you're fascinated with trains and don't get sarcasm, get yourself checked out. Although I don't know what's the point of diagnosis.
I didnt knew all this that existed before I came to US. Something new pops up every other month and gets trending Idk where I was living in India
I feel like it’s just in vogue and overdiagnosed or something idk. Seems like everyone in the free world is diagnosing themselves with something these days and that’s just another one. I’ve had friends self-diagnose autism and they seem just socially awkward. I’m not saying it’s not out there (I’ve met actual autistic people) but at least out of all my STEM friends there’s a ton of weird self-diagnosing stuff with it. Like just toughen up guys, y’all’s shortcomings aren’t due to a social disease lol
People are delaying having kids. Older parents are more likely to have autistic kids. Some of it may be due to over diagnosis.
Well, the minute boys are a bit energetic in school, it's trendy to slap a good ol' ADHD diagnosis on them and ship them off to special Ed. Makes the teacher's life Soo much easier.
Yea very common. Most families I know have a kid or two with autism. Varying severities though.
