Should CEOs speak about the protests?
They addressed the BLM protests. They addressed the Jan 6 event. Now they all keep silent about the protests happening now.
It was all performative. I wish they would just keep their performative activism to themselves, and express opinions in a personal capacity.
Why? What value does it bring for them to talk about these protests?
The value is they wouldn't appear to be hypocritical about their values (you know, human rights, fairness, etc.) But we all know they only really care about money in the end. It isn't until the BDS movement picks up more steam that this will change, as it had for South Africa. History repeats itself and all signs point to it repeating on this point. Do you think CEOs spoke about the civil rights protests before or about Vietnam? They only speak after the fact when the society has mostly come to terms with it.
Only care about money in their public role as CEO. In private, who knows what they think. Hopefully they're educated enough to know the reality.
