Ways to reduce stress immediately
TikTok is 5 days in office. Startup is remote with 1 day in office. Startup is in my city so no move. TikTok requires relocation to SF or WA. What would you pick? Never lived or worked on the west coast so unfamiliar with COL changes. TikTok breakup is up to me but minimum equity is 20k as part of the offer according to my recruiter. TikTok also isn’t giving me any sign on bonus. Is this a good offer? Should I squeeze more? Should I not join at all? Thoughts?
Get sign on bonus
They said no. How much is it for 2-2?
So out of $380k , you could have $360k in cash component and only $20k in stock?
They offer 120k in stock so 30k but they said they were pretty flexible on stock. Couldn’t be more than 25% of comp though
I dint understand the breakdown. $380k is total comp per annum , so how much of this is cash and stock? What is $120k? Is this for 4 years?
Bytedance may look good on paper -- but keep in mind there's a movement in Congress to regulate them out of existence in the U.S. app markets (and thus off consumer's phones). Are you set on leaving NYC? If so, Austin is not that bad a place to live. Flipside is that Startupland is a tough place to be right now -- I personally wouldn't do a startup until after the election. On the third hand: fuck it -- take a chance and worst case pound the virtual pavement for a new gig -- but again, easier said then done with all the layoffs in the last year and a half. No easy answer on this one. Good luck.
Remote ofc. Also, congratulations on 2x your pay.
