Update H1b approval validity date
Hi The visa validity date I entered while booking H1B visa slot is different than the actual H1b validity date ( this is because, I dint receive approval hard copy by then ). Would this be an issue ? Is there a way to update this information?
I was worried about the visa slots.. so as soon as I got an H1 B approval i assumed that it will be approved for 3 years and put the expiration date as 3 years as provided in the petition. But the actual hard copy only approved till 2.5 years from now. But since the slot is already booked, i am unsure on how to update this information. It is not present in ds 160. Will this be an issue when getting Visa stamping ?
You can update it in DS 160 or you can update it directly at the embassy on your visa day as well.
^ completely false. You would need to create a new DS-160 and bring it with you to the appointment. Scan the old and the new DS-160 both. If the DS-160 has inaccuracies in any noticeable way, it is considered fraudulent even if it’s a typo. And it is grounds for immediate visa denial

I don’t think you can update it in the new website. You have to get a new ds160 and new a slot. That’s what I have heard; don’t know it firsthand. Some people took both copies at the consulate and it was fine; but not sure.
What date did you get for interview?

Fill new DS160 and take the old and new to drop box or interview. Carrying old copy is a must.
Why a new ds160 ? The ds 160 does not have the h1b visa expiry date .. this is only asked in the visa appointment website. Having a new ds160 will not help with situation.
