Multiple layoffs destabilized the engineering team. Key members were laid off, followed by increasing demand for the remaining members. Deployments late night Poor management Poor life/work balance Lack of context on the product roadmap and constant pressure on sprints.
In order to achieve equity, we need to move beyond flexibility as an accommodation to parents and move to an overall structure that is flexible for all employees.
