I’m talking TX,PA,NC, KS anywhere LCOL. The best places you can work without relocating? Rankings are on TC and include companies that offer a decent amount of remote positions not just remote first. Tier 1: Airbnb, Stripe, Netflix Tier 2: Meta, Amazon, Twitter, Dropbox, LinkedIn Tier 3: Reddit, Atlassian, Square, Shopify, GitHub, Zoom, Indeed, Twilio, Salesforce Tier 4: Paypal, Microsoft , Splunk Tier 5: Zendesk, Genesys
Salesforce
TX is not cheap. Everything is through the roof
There is more than Houston and Austin. Like El Paso
^^^^
Reddit with Meta and AMZ and LinkedIn?! And a tier above DBX?! Thought they paid paltry sums, I’ll be astounded if they beat DBX on TC. Also Shopify, unless they made major changes to TC in the past year, pays terribly. Definitely tier 4.
Will LinkedIn allow remote ?
I was interviewing from NC for remote about 6 months ago
Good to know. I was given either Sunnyvale or New York as options
PA is not LCOL unless you're in pennsyltucky
We are hiring. Remote is ok depending on team and leader. Make sure it’s a Genesys Cloud role, we have a office in RDU and a lot of folks in TX
Ok Shopify HR
Twitter is tier 1 cringe
Zendesk is remote first. You can work from anywhere in the US, it’s not team dependent and no questions asked. Pay remains the same. We are going private so pay maybe on the lower side.
How is the feeling about the closure? Any insights about re org/firing etc
Generally nobody is liking the fact that ZD is going private especially at a lower stock price. Hence there’s voluntary attrition which has more or less avoided layoffs so far. There will be a reorg after the acquisition closes early next year.
That's a pretty good list, I thought Netflix didn't allow remote though?
They have remote reqs up right now for SWE
