I faked my progress in the daily standup as I had friends come over and was not able to do anything. I know I can manage the work and will be on track before the next standup. Have you ever faked you progress in Scrum/Standup? YOE: 10 months. TC: 140k
Of course. Sometimes I fake a whole week of work if I need free time
Yes I'm a pathological liar
Lol. You’ll get better at it don’t worry.
What if you run into an unexpected issue when you start working later on the already faked progress, which needs help from your teammates
Fake the solution
Or GitHub was unstable and part of your commit history is missing and needs to be rewritten, you already deleted the local branch so it has to be redone completely.
Plot twist, your manager knows you’re full of shit but you’re probably a good employee so they’re letting you do your thing and recover.
Plot twist: the manager fakes their progress too
Plot twist: your manager is one of your friends you had over the other night
sometimes i finish my card on the first 2 days then keep faking my progress so i don’t get more stuff
Fake it till you make it
Yes, I fake it all the time. But I also try to play catch up almost immediately after. Daily Standups were designed to get to see if you have any road blocks but has evolved to shame and pit team mates against each other. Sometimes you just have way too many distractions to get work done during that day or week, so faking is kinda important.
Sounds like a toxic work environment problem not a stand-ups exist problem.
Finish task in like 2 hours and fake progress for a week
Proactive. I like it
This is the way
I have. But i try to resist the temptation to do that. Because, then i end up with twice the pressure the next day.
