Tempted by the $$$ but don’t want to miss them growing up. Is it really that bad?
What’s your YoE and what’s citadel offering?
12 yoe, 400k gbp
I’ll take citadel over two kids any day. Kids come and go. TC stays.
Well, how will your kids’ future be affected by the decision? Compare the scenarios buddy. Be concrete and sharp, like in your interviews with Citadel.
If the OP takes up a job that requires them to devote a lot of time and constantly gives them stress, they won't be able to give sufficient time to their kids growing up, and stress will affect whatever miniscule time they actually get with the kids.
Scenario 1. Kids have everything they need materially but dad wasn’t around much and say “I just wish dad had been around more”. Scenario 2. Kids have enough (OP is at Goldman, not McDonald’s) maybe not everything but get to have their dad around growing up and say “I just wish we had less time with dad and more money”. Which of these scenarios are heard the world over? I’m guessing it’s #1
Depends on the team I think. I’ve only ever talked to GQS and they said 45-50 hour weeks are okay. You probably won’t be able to work from home more than 2-3 days per month. On the other hand, Citadel will pay well and take care of you in many ways. If this sounds doable, then go for it!
Kids
Totally depends on dept. GQS and EQR are the most reasonable I’ve seen, but happy to give more color if you want to DM me
What are you talking about? GQS and EQR are the most unreasonable teams with the worst wlb
ask them the question
how much of a pay boost?
Can you leave at 3pm every day to pick your kids from school? No Will you be present in their lives most evenings and for major events and milestones? Absolutely
You do realize this is the bare minimum right? Plenty of people would even say it’s below.
C1 / lol he literally just answered op’s question. why you acting like Kenny B’s in charge of Citadel’s culture.
Give an example of those $$$ for a SW/quant role
