No, there are going to be 100K more housewives. Also, I highly doubt USCIS will take away the H4 EAD from those who already have it. It's probably going to be like DACA which they simply don't accept new application

What do you think will happen to them when the time comes for their renewal or transfer?

Right now, DACA accepts renewal for those who are already on DACA. I think it's going to be similar for H4 EAD. Also, companies will help them apply for H1B.

I really doubt USCIS is gonna treat H4EAD like DACA. But I hope you are right, after all I am a beneficiary.

Legal immigrants should be treated at least the same as, if not better than, illegal immigrants. Plus, the unemployment rate is historically low now. It's going to be super hard for USCIS to justify how H4 are taking jobs from Americans.

"Justify" sadly is far from how this administration functions. I hope there is a due process where they decide (I hope not) this is gonna be removed.

Why not? I had to pass through so many hoops to get an H1B for myself but someone can get the same thing just because they got married ?
I would expect them to go through the same process too.

I have the same argument against family/chain immigration, it's only making it harder for genuine and skilled immigrants to stay here.

Omg are you for real, if you are as qualified as you claim to be you wouldn't feel threatened by others.

You are either a loner or are lucky to marry an H1B holder.

Chain migration provides zero benefit to the hosting country. I’m all for allowing skilled immigrants to come here where GENUINE shortages exist (which is almost NEVER true with SWE and other h1b scenarios), but their spouses and *especially* their extended family should receive zero additional benefit because it displaces other legal immigrants who may be of greater value to us. If that is a dealbreaker for the h1b holder, tough shit. Don’t apply.

Truth in life: I’m a hardline progressive who advocates a generous welfare state. That’s expensive and means we can’t be the world’s immigration dumping ground. I also believe our first and foremost duty is to our citizens, and if I have to choose between foreigners/h4s/h1bs, illegal/undocumented immigrants, and our people, I’m gonna choose my naturalized and citizen countrymen and women every time.

The truth is you look like a mediocre worker who is jealous and is afraid of competition. The unemployment rate in the US is historically low and lots of high paying job that requires technical skills remain unfilled. If you aren't qualified for those positions, please don't drag other people down. Not allowing qualified people to fill the position by advocating for visa restrictions will not make you magically qualified for the high paying job.

One of the interesting things about a post like this on an anonymous platform like blind is that it also elicits comments like the ones above. In my opinion it is the true demonstration of how little is really known about H4 as well as hidden xenophobia that lurks.

If they were going to cancel H4 EAD, they would have cancelled it already.

How many H4 in Bay Area ? Maybe 30k max ? Out of those 30k let’s say 20% bought homes and can’t afford them anymore . So you are saying 6K people will have to sell but some might be able to rent instead selling . Realistically probably 2-3K houses come available . Dip yes- crash idk
