I'm starting as a dev at Facebook soon, and not sure if I should choose a 13" or 15" MacBook. 15" was a lock before the refreshes were announced last week because the 13" was only dual core, but now it's quad core. I've owned both 13" and 15" MacBooks in the past. The portability of 13" is nice, but the extra screen real estate and faster CPUs in the 15" are tempting. Do people do much dev on the laptop itself, or is it usually connected to an external monitor? Do most people take their laptops home at the end of the day? Would the type of work that most teams in Seattle do take advantage of the faster 15"?
If you are a developer go for 15”.
Do people run servers/frontends on their laptops? Seems like a good option for main dev machine if so.
I guess editing a post deletes the poll? Oops
15, youll regret with 13
13” because real work happens on a workstation or on a cloud instance. 😂
13 for work laptop. Portability wins. It’s not that slow and you have monitors at work. It’s also helpful if you are on call or travel often
Is the 13 inch the model without the dumb touchbar
You want 2x USB-C on each side tho
Congrats on getting saved from MSFT, OP! 😀
13” easy to carry. Was on 15”, it died, now on 13” and just fine. I still from home a lot without the big monitor at work. I travel a lot so 13’ helps. My 13” is max spec.
15 all the way
