1BD Recommendation near SF

Get a offer from SF-based company and will have TC~263k. I am moving from San Diego to Bay Area and looking for 1BD apartment near SF. My budget is from 2.5k to 2.8k. I am considering either Oakland or Daly City with easy access to BART. 1. Any recommendations or thoughts on Oakland or Daly City. What I need to be aware? Besides Oakland and Daly City, 2. Other recommended region which I can access to BART? OR 3. Any recommended region which I can access to Cal-Train? Thanks any help in advanced.

1. What are you looking for in a city or neighborhood? Neither Oakland nor Daly City feels at all like San Diego. 2. Bernal Heights and the Mission have a lot to offer and are along the BART corridor. 3. The Mission and Potrero Hill get you close to Caltrain 22nd Street. Both nice neighborhoods with very different feels. What are you looking for?

Thanks for your information. It's very useful to me. Regarding Bernal Heights and Mission District, what's the typical rent range for 1B1B

Why is your budget so low on 238k? You can't be stingy in SF.

You can probably get a 1 bedroom in sf with that budget. Wouldn’t recommend Daly City although Oakland’s not bad.

Thanks, which region at SF do you recommend?

Depends on where your work is / how you want to commute. If you can bike to work in soma, north beach or Mission is nice. Mission is good for bart access and good neighborhood. Soma is a short walk to work but can be sketchy. I’d avoid the tenderloin and maybe parts of soma if you can.

Daly City has not so good weather, especially if you're coming from SD. I would recommended Oakland, which also has better night life, commuting options, and diversity. SF is ideal from a commuting perspective, but overrated from the diversity nightlife perspective. You'll pay a lot more too to be in SF for something as nice as in San Diego... There's several Facebook groups that help ppl find apartment shares as well

Thanks for the information, I am thinking to have a good quality with less money, then Oakland with accessing Bart seems like a good option to me. I don't mind commuting if there's good public transportation since I grow up from a big city with accessing subway every day

If you live in SF, go to pax heights, russian hill, etc - basically north/north west of the city. The rest is fairly dystopian with dangerous and often crazy homeless with done exceptions (i think portero is ok)
