I was speaking with an internal recruiter. I refused to throw out a number. They finally told that L4 (eq. to Senior SWE) can get 250k TC. It seemed... surprisingly high, not gonna lie.
We pay surprisingly well. I'm actually taking a slight pay cut in order to go from X6 principal to L5 engineering manager at Google.
Seriously ? I thought overall comp will be higher at G though base pay may be lower. Mind sharing numbers?
But stock vesting at wmt sucks.. at google there’s no cliff anymore

Realistic numbers for x4 will be 150 base, 40K RSU, 20% bonus. This "modest" estimate itself reaches 220K. The recruiter can't change the 40K rsu and 20% bonus, but that 150K can be stretched a little. The highest I have heard for x4 is 170. But even without all that, a modest 30K joining bonus itself will hit the 250K for the first year

I wasn’t given the split in the discussion. Just the 250 figure.
In unrelated convos, I was told L4 has a 20% bonus target and 80k/4 yrs stock. So 170 base / 34k bonus / 20k stock adds up to 224k. If I had to guess, that’s probably peak base. The bonus structure is tied to the level (non negotiable). There is probably the opportunity to negotiate for more stock to get to 250k.
