Which one would you choose and why ?
Option #2 40 lpa Home Town in India
My home town is Bangalore and parents have a nice home as well in South Bangalore where I can crash rent free for some time
“Parents gave a nice home where I can crash rent free” you’re such a wannabe american. Tight chamat you should get
I think u should change it to 40lpa + peace of mind vs 200k + fucked up life. If u ask me, its not worth it. Planning on moving back after 1.5 yrs.
Well, life is fucked up in Bangalore in different ways. I was there 2 weeks ago and had to face a 18 hour power cut, putting me off work for an entire day.
calculating the worth is very Subjective. For me getting away from the crappy public system and Pollution was worth it but then I don’t have any family to take care of. These things are subjective. Visa hassle might not be a problem for some but for some it has been a nightmare
200k
If it's l1b then there are other scenarios as well to consider. Job flexibility, career moves. Bangalore is quite hot as far as career opportunities are concerned.
What's your background? How old are you?
I'm 28 single. ~5 YoE excluding masters. Work mostly on ML infra. GF moved back to india to live closer to parents as well and 40lpa is based on her opinion.
Try to be in your eventual location at the point of marriage. It is typically very hard to move back to India after you get married while in the US.
If you've never lived in US. I would suggest to try it for a while. You'll learn a lot and will bring back some good etiquettes back home.
Op which company in Bangalore offered you 40lpa? Life is fucked up here
There are many from big to startups. Search on blind.
Don't have an offer in hand. Made up that hypothetical number based on friends exp working on similar things/companies in Bangalore.
$200k in the Bay Area is chump change. https://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-vector-better-luck-next-time-red-rubber-stamp-text-vector-over-a-white-background-219836698.jpg
Earning 40 LPA is not a lot (28%) if you can earn 200K (~1.4 CR) in Bay Area. Are you sure this is what is being offered?
I don't think it's all about numbers here. Cost of living in NJ is 10x compared to Bangalore. In NJ even1BHK rent cost 2.5k-3k usd!
