Looking at west coast sales roles with both AWS and Google (gcp). Azure and AWS seem to have momentum in cloud but GCP seems like a dark horse. Anyone selling for GCP making money?
AWS bleeds innovation. There’s nothing quite like it. The better Azure does, the more AWS will double-down on invention and innovation.
I sell GCP. Made a lot last year (bonus was multiples of my base). Comp plan has changed this year and ppl have taken their foot off the gas as a result - it's crap. Plan may change in H2... We're all waiting to see.
Are you able to compete? Are people buying or kicking tires?
Lots of interest. Respectfully, most of my prospects laugh at Azure - only real thing I end up competing with is AWS and in most of my deals the companies want to work with Google (better data + ml story and they see us as less "ruthless").
Am considering gcp role too and wanted to see if F500 prospects take you seriously vs AWS. In CRM, MS is our only real competitor anymore and theyve still got a long way to go.
I feel we are taken very seriously. 2 years ago enterprise ready was a concern, these days we hear less of that, but still need to polish up delivery on things like professional services.
Also, what's your offer look like and what level / location?
Initial Google offer is lower in salary & OTE compared to others
MSFT package is like a 55 % base / 45% bonus. Base of 150-180k based upon experience and location is my guess. Quota growth of close to 100%. average seller is at 85-90%. Microsoft has cap and numbers are getting big so hard to blow it out.
If you want to go into enterprise sales, go to Azure. They control most of the enterprise accounts
I've worked professionally with all of these platforms. I have to say AWS is miles ahead of their competition. Take this with a grain of salt (or a pound) as I'm biased.
Agree, although Azure is closing the gap. GCP is interesting but far behind the other two. If AWS is 10, Azure is 6.5 and GCP is 3 or 4.
